did you take that of your own self? or was that OB making up for the blur in the other shot?
if you, nice one... self portraits are @#$%'n hard. I was trying to take one of myself this evening for various complicated reasons, and twenty exposures later it was time to give up and go have a martini.
you don't look ready to go home. not sure quite what you look ready to do... sort of a "hm, I wonder what -that- button does" kind of a look.
no, oldben took this one...forgot to give credit (oops).
i'm not sure about that look on my face either.
self-portraits that don't involve reflections are damn near impossible.
well, big ups to OB, then.
the look is pensive, and a little devious. not inappropriate, at least from the sense of you I've gotten from your blogs. it's good; you want a little room for interpretation in your expression--otherwise it's too monochrome. "GOING TO BITE YOU," for instance, leaves a lot less in play as a look.
I can set up the shot well enough for the self portrait, it's just the 'trying not to look like I'm sitting awkwardly in front of a camera waiting for the flashing light to go solid' part at which I am hopeless.
hmmm...that part i'm okay with...it helps because who knows better than you how you want to appear?
your auto-aesthetic fu is greater than mine. I just want to look like I normally look, dammit, not like I'm frozen in epoxy with some kind of weird-ass smirk on my face, which is usually what I get.
I bet you would take bang-up self portraits. or portraits, for that matter... why don't you chain mysfit up and take a picture of her? I still don't think I've seen a clear one. at least our man O.B. is not so camera shy.
well, i'll have a number of opportunities for mysfit portraits in the coming week, & the chains may prove unnecessary.
i just think she sometimes likes to keep the world of her mind separate from the world of her person, & who am i to argue with that?
with OB, i figure, he's in a band, public figure & all that, his photo's already on the web in a number of places, so it's kind of a non-issue--except where taste is concerned.
me, i'm just not shy about it.
chain me up, monkey? you want jenn see to chain me up and take my picture?
hmmmm....
